This week’s featured song story comes to us from Brooke Ligertwood. We’re excited to share with you the story behind her song “A Thousand Hallelujahs.”
“So Scott Ligertwood (my husband) and I wrote this song with our dear friend Phil Wickham. We actually wrote it in Phil’s church that he and his family attend on Sundays. It’s a beautiful church in Southern California. When we got together to spend some time writing, we were just looking around the church hall and began talking about the generations that had worshipped in that space and the thousands of hallelujahs that had been offered up in that place. And the song honestly just flowed forth.” – Brooke Ligertwood

“A Thousand Hallelujahs” Lyrics
Verse 1
Who else would rocks cry out to worship?
Whose glory taught the stars to shine?
Perhaps creation longs
To have the words to sing
But this joy is mine
Chorus
With a thousand hallelujahs
We magnify Your name
You alone deserve the glory
The honor and the praise
Lord Jesus, this song is Forever Yours
A thousand hallelujahs and
A thousand more
Verse 2
Who else would die for our redemption?
Whose resurrection means I’ll rise?
There isn’t time enough
To sing of all You’ve done
But I have eternity to try
Bridge 1
Praise to the Lord, to the Lamb
To the King of heaven
Praise for He rose, now He reigns
We will sing forever
Bridge 2
Praise to the Lord, to the Lamb
To the King of heaven
Praise for He rose, now He reigns
We will sing forever
Bridge 3
Praise to the Lord, to the Lamb
To the King of heaven
Praise for He rose, now He reigns
We will sing forever
