This week’s featured song story comes to us from Phillips, Craig & Dean. We’re excited to share with you the story behind their song “You’re Still God.”
“There was a lady in my church who wondered if God was hearing her prayer about a son who had made heartbreaking choices. She read a devotional that said every time you see a penny say ‘God I still trust you, you’re still God.’ She confronted the young man over destructive behavior and the young man didn’t seem to turn or flinch, so she got up and went to the restroom in this restaurant. She said ‘God I thought you heard me? I thought I could trust you?’ She looked down at her hands and the whole counter was filled with pennies. Up on the ceiling lined with pennies. And she heard the still small voice of the Lord say ‘you can trust Me. I’m still God.’ For anyone whose listening that thought your prayers have not been answered, come to this conclusion: You’re still God.” – Phillips, Craig & Dean

“You’re Still God” Lyrics
I thought I could trust you
Deep down I know I can
But I’m so hurt and angry
At this circumstance
Did I miss something somewhere?
Did I not pray enough?
But with a faith that is shredded
I’ll say that I trust
You’re still God
When I can’t see it
You’re still God
When it’s hard believing
You’re still moving
It doesn’t matter
If I know what you’re doing or not
You’re still God
Feeling crushed by the questions
All the things I don’t know
But you hold all the answers
Where else could I go?
You’re still God
When I can’t see it
You’re still God
When it’s hard believing
You’re still moving
It doesn’t matter
If I know what you’re doing or not
You’re still God
You’re still God
You’re still God though it feels like you’re hiding
And I’m dying here in the deafening silence
Begging for mercy with tears on my face
And all I’ve got left is a whisper to say
You’re still God
You’re still God
You’re still God
When I can’t see it
You’re still God
When it’s hard believing
You’re still moving
It doesn’t matter
If I know what you’re doing or not
You’re still God
You’re still God
You’re still God, woah
