This week’s featured song story comes to us from Mike Donehey. We’re excited to share with you the story behind his song “All Together.”
Being in my band Tenth Avenue North for so long, I’ve had so many people message me and say “I wish that I knew I could share my secrets with someone, but I can’t because I’m afraid I won’t actually be met with grace and acceptance.” I was talking with my buddy who runs addictions programs and he said there’s this radical, sacred thing that happens when addicts get together in a 12 step circle. They are 100% vulnerable and then they are met with 100% acceptance. It changes things. So I said what if we could write a song that might actually encourage people to take that first step of honesty, to share their secrets and to be met with radical acceptance? – Mike Donehey
