This week’s featured song story comes to us from Pat Barrett. We’re excited to share with you the story behind his song “Canvas and Clay.”
“The line that really kind of started all this was “you make all things work together,” like Romans 8, a verse where it talks about God’s ability to use all these things that seem unrelated or unusable and somehow make something of them. In just going off that we just started talking about relating to God as an artist and seeing Him in that light. He’s The master, creator, artist.” – Pat Barrett

“Canvas and Clay” Lyrics
Verse 1
In my mother’s womb
You formed me with Your hands
Known and loved by You
Before I took a breath
Pre-Chorus 1
When I doubt it, Lord, remind me
I’m wonderfully made
You’re an artist and a potter
I’m the canvas and the clay
Chorus
You make all things work together
For my future and for my good
You make all things work together
For Your glory and for Your name
Verse 2
There’s a healing light
Just beyond the clouds
Though I’ve walked through fire
I see clearly now
Pre-Chorus
I know nothing has been wasted
No failure or mistake
You’re an artist and a potter
I’m the canvas and the clay
Bridge
When I doubt it, Lord, remind me
I’m wonderfully made
You’re an artist and a potter
I’m the canvas and the clay
I know nothing has been wasted
No failure or mistake
You’re an artist and a potter
I’m the canvas and the clay
Vamp
You’re not finished with me
You’re not finished with me yet
You’re not finished with me
You’re not finished with me yet
