This week’s devotional from Sidewalk Prophets comes from their song “Save My Life.” The verse that inspired this song is 1 John 3:18 which says, “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
When we sat down and wrote our song “Save My Life” I had never read the book “Love Does” By Bob Goeff. It’s an incredible book. It tells a story of a life lived on the edge and a life lived in action. I think that was the theme of our song “Save My Life.” We need to be out there changing lives and not just talking about it. – Dave (Sidewalk Prophets)
First the song makes me think it’s about a waiter who is suicidal and depressed but then it says he is a preacher so I am lost. Please explain. Sorry if I’m obtuse. I just heard this song tonight and I really liked that sound I would like to understand it fully.
Hi
I think each verse is about another person who could be in our lives.
