My favorite Christmas memory is definitely all the years of going to the midnight Christmas Eve service with my family. Those were and still are very special times. My second favorite Christmas memory took place last year. I was studying abroad for education in Greece last December and we spend Christmas and New Year’s in Greece during this time. While it was hard being away from family and friends at this time, I will definitely never forget spending the holidays in another country!

My favorite Christmas memory is of being at my grandparents’ house on Christmas Day. There are 18 grandchildren total and my grandma always made all of the boys matching pajamas and all of the girls matching nightgowns. We didn’t get to spend a lot of time with our cousins during the year, and so this was always a special time together. It really made us feel so close to have matching pjs!

My favorite Christmas memory is when I went to see a live Nativity last year. Not only was it a live Nativity, but we also saw interesting interactive sites which included different foods, animals, and games! It was a Christmas I’ll certainly never for get!

Decorating shortbread cookies in the kitchen with mom. We always got to eat the broken ones, so quite a few ended up “broken” by the end of the decorating session.

When I was a child, my mother put up our Christmas tree on Christmas Eve after we were in bed. So we thought Santa brought the tree as well as the presents. Since we were of Eastern European ancestry, our tree stayed up until King’s Day (January 6) which was traditionally celebrated as the day the Wise Men came to see the baby Jesus.

My favorite Christmas was in Taiwan. We’d been living there for about 5 years and I had not seen snow yet in my life. There was one place on the island high enough to get snow, and it snowed for the first time in decades. EVERYbody went to that mountain, and it was a great memory.

UM, I have great Christmas memories, but I think the date to pick the winners is wrong. Today is the 16th, but it’s only Thursday. 🙂 oops. My favorite Christmas memories are when my 7 siblings and I have annual pillow fights on Christmas day.

My favorite christmas memory was when most of my brothers were there for christmas and we just had a amazing time together! We played games, opened presents, took pictures, and had a fabulous dinner together! We don’t have a lot of christmases when all or most of my brothers come home, so that time was special!

My favorite Christmas memory was three years ago. My grandpa had been in bad health and had been in the nursing home but was released for the day so he could go home and have Christmas with the family. He was in really good spirits and had gotten so excited, he actually was feeling really good that day. I think the reason I hold that Christmas in my heart so much is because our family actually made the most of the day since he was home. Everyone got along that day and there was none of the usual bickering you might find among the family members. It was a great day!

When I was about 8 yrs old, my dad lost his job right before the Christmas season. I remember mama having tears in her eyes as she explained to me and my four younger brothers and sisters that Santa would not make it to our house that year. We were dissapointed, but the look on our parents face made me more sad for them than for myself.

Daddy cut a tree from the woods, but we we only had a few ornaments on it, and when we went to bed on Christmas Eve there were no presents under that tree. I don’t how they did it, they would never tell us, but on Christmas morning there were presents for all of us under that tree.

I have very few happy memories from my childhood but that day, and the joy we felt, lives on in my heart! Thanks for listening. Merry Christmas!!!

The time we went to the late night Christmas Eve service and our family had different roles serving that night. We were all together and serving in a worship service on Christmas Eve.

My favorite Christmas memory is going with my family to a local church’s annual Singing Christmas Tree. It became even more special when my friends who attended the church got old enough to be in it!

My favorite Christmas memory is having my family all together last year for Christmas. My oldest son’s first Christmas home after being in the Army, my second son home on leave from the Army before heading to Afghanistan and my youngest still in high school. We headed back to Pennsylvania to visit my parents and my sister’s family for Christmas and had a wonderful time together.

My favorite Christmas memory would have to be a few years ago (around 5 maybe) we were not able to live in our house do to water damage and tons of other problems. We were living at my grandparents house and on Christmas Eve we opened presents. Well we knew we weren’t getting much cuz of money and everything. I remember opening one present that i really had wanted and wondered where it had come from. I found out that someone from our chruch had bought me and my 3 brothers each one present. It was super special and i still have the toy i got:)

My favorite Christmas memory is from the old white plank-board Lutheran church my family and the extended family attended. It looked like one of those old country church postcards on the plains. They would have a candle light service before Christmas and the lights would flicker off the windows and the faces around us. It looked like what I would expect heaven to look like. I remember singing Silent Night and O’Christmas Tree (in German).
At the end of the service everyone went home with a brown paper bag filled with fruit, nuts and candy.

I always felt so peaceful and a since of wonder and beauty afterward.

The day my grandfather sent me home with the old model train set he set up every year around the Christmas tree. I’ve continued that tradition for him.

One of my favorite memories was waking up at 4:30am Christmas day because my neighbor had gotten walkie talkies for Christmas and was outside my window playing with them with his brother. I didn’t look at the clock and went and asked my mom if we could get up. When she saw the time she told me I better get back in the bed and not to get up until 7am. I tossed and turned for 2.5 hours until 7am.

The old tradition of going to Grandma’s on Christmas Eve, staying late, and coming home in my pajamas.

My favorite Christmas memory has to be spending Christmas Eve night at my grandparents’ house. We slept upstairs, woke up at the crack of dawn, and woke everyone else up. While we sat at the top of the stairs waiting for the adults to give us the go ahead to come downstairs, we would hear a distinct “Ho ho ho” from the living room – where the fireplace was. Once we were told, we would run downstairs and see the beautiful Christmas tree with tons of presents underneath. Now that I’m older and I realize that my grandfather was playing Santa and that my parents put the gifts under the tree, I realize that the real magic was in how much effort my family put into the experience.
