In honor of Phil Wickham’s brand new album “Heaven & Earth,” we’re giving you a free download of his song “Coming Alive.” We asked Phil about the meaning behind the album and title track, and he explained that it was inspired by one of his favorite C.S. Lewis books, “The Last Battle” from the Chronicles of Narnia.
“It’s really amazing how the book ends,” he said, “because Aslan gathers everybody that’s in Narnia that believes in him, and they walk through this amazing, massive door. Aslan does away with the old Narnia as people walk through the door into this new place. It’s like all the colors come to life for the first time, and everybody sees in a way they’ve never seen before; everybody hears and smells more beautifully, louder and bigger. It’s almost like they were in a shadow and they never knew it, and they finally came out and saw the real life. It’s kind of a metaphor of what it means for us now when we enter into the presence of God and what that’s going to be like.”
Definitely check out Phil’s free song “Coming Alive” – it’s just a taste of the beautiful masterpiece he has created with his new album. If you want to hear more head over to iTunes for the whole album plus a bonus behind the scenes video.
