Sara Groves gave us the story behind her powerful new song “It’s Me,” which reflects on some of the struggles of marriage; This is just one of the many honest and truthful songs on her upcoming release “Fireflies and Songs,” which she considers to be a “songwriters album” and the “most her” musically than some of her previous records. This album is filled with many candid lyrics that will cut strait to your heart – you’ll understand after you watch her first video 🙂
“I tried not to teach on this album,” Sara explained. “And I’m a natural-born teacher. I turn everything into a lesson–for myself, for the people around me. That’s how I process my life, that’s how I learn. But I wanted Fireflies & Songs to feel more like friends and I are talking at Don Pablo’s over nachos and cheese. I’m trying to be more confessional, and I hope these songs encourage other people to live confessionally.”

Sometimes when Troy, my husband, and I are in the midst of a disagreement, one of us will say something that’s really sarcastic or just so overt. And being on the receiving end of that, it’s is like, “Honey, it’s me … Sara.” Or vice versa. We just forget who we’re talking to and the value of that person. For whatever reason, you cross that line where sensitivity and tenderness are discarded. You’d never talk to anyone else like that or treat someone else like that. Troy and I are working on that–talking to each other and interacting with each other in those situations in the way we would a complete stranger. –Sara Groves
