Download Sara Groves’ New Single “Open My Hands” For FREE!

This week we have even more free music from Sara Groves! If you liked her free acoustic EP last week, then be sure to get this week’s song “Open My Hands.”  It’s actually the next single from her album “Invisible Empires” and my personal favorite track on the record ;) Check out her video interview below to see the story and meaning behind the song, and scroll down to get it for free!

I had a few co-writes on this last record with Jill Phillips, Andy Gullihorn, and on a song called “Open My Hands” with Ally Rogers who is a great songwriter in Nashville. We were talking about the verse that says “He withholds no good thing from us,” and the puzzlement of that, when you know people in your life that are having difficult times. And she shared with me this devotion by Charles Spurgeon:

“In Psalm 84:11 we read, ‘No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.”’Sir Richard Baker comments, ‘But how is this true when God oftentimes withholds riches, honor, and health of body from men? Though they walk ever so uprightly.’ We may therefore know that honors and riches and bodily strength are none of God’s good things. And the good things of God are chiefly peace of conscience, joy in the Holy Spirit, for wishing of God’s presence, and envisioning his face. These good things God never withholds from the godly.”

I have found this to be true in my own life that even though I might be struggling in other ways, God doesn’t withhold His good things from me. -Sara Groves

Watch Sara Groves’ New Music Video For “Miracle” And Hear Her Story Behind It

Sara Groves has another beautiful new music video out called “Miracle” that we wanted to share. Take a look below, and then scroll down to see what she had to say about the song in our behind the scenes interview.

I remember getting the idea for this song, “Miracle” when I was driving to jury duty. It was raining, and I was thinking, “What is the good news in relation to?” We had some friends who were going through a really difficult divorce, and I wondered about the good news of that particular circumstance of a couple falling apart.

Then I thought, “The good news of the miracle of love and God’s work in our hearts is that we literally can see things that we can’t see, heal in ways that we couldn’t heal, and we know things that we could not have known on our own. I’ve experienced this in so many ways in my life, especially in my marriage, where I’m able to feel feelings that I thought wouldn’t be possible again. But then I go before the Lord and ask, “Help me feel things that I can’t feel, help me understand things that I can’t understand,” and I’m always amazed at how short of a time it actually takes before I’m feeling that love and engaging again. But, not only just to this level of survival, but thriving in this place of wonder at what God has done in my heart.

Sara Groves Performs Her New Song “Eyes On The Prize”

If you haven’t gotten your copy of Sara’s new album yet, then here’s your chance to hear one of the brand new songs off the record! Sara Groves and friend, Steve Mason (of Jars of Clay), play “Eyes On The Prize” in the video below!

I was in a conversation with a friend at International Justice Mission about longevity and having fortitude for the long haul, and had been looking for a song to encourage those from the organization. Another friend had given me a collection of civil rights songs a couple years ago, and I just love listening to those songs rallying around freedom. We’ve spent a lot of time working with IJM, and trying to share this message of combating modern day slavery and human trafficking, and so I found this song and thought “What a cool song this would be to re-make.” It was originally called “The Gospel Plow” and was an old hymn that was re-written during the civil rights movement to be “Eyes On The Prize.”Sara Groves

The song lives on, and unfortunately there’s a need for it in multi-generations. There still is a need for freedom to be sung, and there are still slaves being held captive around the world. Troy Groves
