Psalm 30:5bWeeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
Jesus was a man of suffering. So, God is well aware of how we feel when we are rejected and we are suffering because of it. But, I really believe that he uses that as a chisel and hammer to get the very best out of us if we’ll trust him. –Lara

Lara Landon leads us in this week’s devotional taken from James 5:16 about healing and freedom through Christ. Scroll down to see her encouragement about walking in the light & see how you can enter to win her new CD “Overcome!’
James 5:16 “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”
We know for a fact that we have an enemy, and he wants to kill, steal and destroy us. And the best way that he does this is by keeping us in isolation, and keeping us ashamed, and keeping us from sharing what we’re dealing with to other believers who can then pray for us so that we may be healed, and it’s laid out so simply in this verse. The truth will set you free! –Lara

Lara Landon leads us in this week’s devotional from Matthew 7, about the wise man who builds his house on the rock. Scroll down to see her encouragement about building a life that will stand & see how you can enter to win her new CD “Overcome!’
Matthew 7:24-27 24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
What is the rock in this story? I used to think that it meant God. That if you build your house on God that when hard times come you’ll stay standing. And that is true- God is the rock. But, if you pay attention to the wording of this it says, “Whoever hears these words of mine, and does them, will be like a wise man who builds his house on the rock.”
I’m challenging myself, and I want to challenge you to re-visit the teachings of Jesus and take them for what he’s saying to us right now in this moment. Refresh teaching about what he’s actually telling us about the values and specifics he wants us to live by, so that our life will be built on them, and we’ll have that strong foundation. -Lara

What does it look like when I spend years praying for healing for my husband that never comes? I feel like we’ve gotten to a place of having to make a choice- are we going to judge God based on our circumstances that we don’t understand? Or are we going to chose to judge our circumstances based on what we hold to be true of God? I’m learning that every morning when I wake up, to choose to trust God. And that’s what “blessings” is about. It’s just considering… MAYBE THE BLESSING IS ACTUALLY FOUND IN THE ABSENCE OF THE THING THAT I’M PRAYING FOR.
