Free Download From 33Miles!

We’re excited to bring you a free song here from the talented 33Miles from their latest studio release “Today!” The track is called “Calling My Name” and is one of our favorites off the record. See what Jason had to say about the story behind it:

Calling my name is a song that took us about three days to write. It was not the easiest song in the world but we felt like the song was just ‘calling our name,’ so we had to write it. I think it’s special to me because it’s one of perseverance through the songwriting process, also, just the message of the song that Christ has been calling us, that He has always been calling us and always been pursuing us. I didn’t really go looking for Him, He really came looking for me and He does that same for everybody. Once He does call your name, He doesn’t stop. He’s going to continue to pursue a relationship that’s even deeper than the day before and that’s what makes the song so great. –Jason Barton

The band also has a new single hitting radio airwaves now called “What Grace Looks Like” plus they just released a special acoustic EP on their website that you can check out HERE. Scroll down to get your free download of “Calling My Name,” hear Chris tell the story behind their single, and check out the rest of the album!

33Miles Bible Study Inspired By The Song “Arms That Hold The Universe”

“O LORD, you have probed me, you know me: you know when I sit and stand; you understand my thoughts from afar. My travels and my rest you mark; with all my ways you are familiar. Even before a word is on my tongue, LORD, you know it all.” Psalm 139:1-4

The universe is incredibly huge. It’s so huge, in fact, that we don’t even know the exact size. Even if we did know, we are incapable of fully comprehending the size of the universe because we have never dealt with anything on that scale. It’s just too big for our minds to wrap around.

Think of the creator of all that. He not only had a vision for what He wanted it to look like, but He created the science behind it. He made star life cycles, galaxy formation, and black holes. He not only saw the big picture, but He took care of all the intimate details of the universe so that everything could happen the way He planned.

Now, think of us, humans on earth. We live on one planet in one solar system in one of the galaxies in one galaxy group in the universe. Again, it’s impossible to comprehend, but that makes us incredibly tiny against the sheer magnitude of the universe. Earth itself is small, and we aren’t even visible from an airplane, let alone space. We’re miniscule.

The Bible tells us that God loves us. Jesus’ death proclaims the drastic measures God was willing to go to for us. He loves us more than we know in a way deeper than we can imagine. In fact, He loves us so much that he knows everything about us. He “probes” us. He goes out of his way to search us and know us inside and out. He wants to know everything about us and He does!

“And the arms that hold the universe are holding you tonight.” If God made sure every detail worked out exactly as planned to create this gigantic, unbelievable universe, don’t you think He cares enough to make sure the details in your life work according to plan too? If God oversees everything, doesn’t it make sense that He is looking out for you?

Whenever we fear, whenever we feel like God has left us behind and isn’t looking out for us anymore, know that it’s not that way. “So be still and know He’s in control.” He doesn’t make mistakes and He’s leading you exactly where you need to be. Take comfort in the fact that you have a God who is all-knowing and all-powerful. “You can hope, you can rise, you can stand. He’s still got the whole world in His hands.”

Lyrics:

I know it seems like this could be the darkest day you’ve known
But believe you me, the God of strength will never let you go
He will overcome, I know

Chorus:
And the arms that hold the universe are holding you tonight
You can rest inside, it’s gonna be alright
And the voice that calmed the raging sea is calling you His child
So be still and know He’s in control
He will never let you go

Through many dangers, toils, and snares you have already come
His grace has brought you safe this far, and His grace will lead you home

Chorus

You can hope, you can rise, you can stand
He’s still got the whole world in His hands
You can hope, you can rise, you can stand
He’s still got the whole world, the whole world in His hands

Chorus

He’s still got the whole world in His hands
In his hands, yeah
He’s still got the whole world in His hands

Arms That Hold The universe

Can you imagine the power of God? Can you imagine the authority of Him who spoke all things into existence? How incomprehensible. I’m amazed at the idea, no, the reality, of that. Can you imagine the hands of God holding the universe in the palm of His hand? Honestly? Can you? I can’t. Think about that. The Bible says that the heavens are the work of His hands. I have so much trouble doing any small thing with my hands, I can’t even begin to think about the idea of the universe being ordained and crafted into perfection. That’s too much for me.

Funny how often we can run ourselves to death, day in and day out, thinking the destiny of the universe depends on the excellence of our performance. Well let me encourage you… sit back, take a deep breath, and relax. It’s OK. You don’t have to worry anymore… the universe is in better hands. The best hands. God’s hands. You can have successes and… you can have times when you fail. It’s alright. God doesn’t hold the universe in His hands hoping and praying to Himself that you nail everything perfectly, as if His sovereignty depends on you. He has NEVER depended on us. Never.

WHERE I WANNA GO

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country–a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. -Hewbrews 11: 13-16

“I love this scripture because it talks about all the people of the bible that live their lives by faith, and yet they endured because their mind was set on a heavenly place that was awaiting them. It was set on a glory to come- on seeing their savior, their king Jesus that saved them. Little did they know that their lives would be documented thousands of years later to encourage us in our faith. This scripture reminds us that this world is not our home, and not where we’re going to stay. These light and momentary trials are far outweighed by a glory that awaits us. And so, let it be fuel to your fire that no matter what you are going through you can still say, ‘I cannot wait to be with Jesus Christ in glory one day.’

And that is what this song is all about; it is a song that we hope inspires you to live your life now knowing that Heaven awaits you. I know it can be such a challenge for me personally just to not get caught up in the world and the trials that we face, and just the mundaneness of it. “Where I Wanna Go,” speaking about Heaven, challenges us on a daily basis to live today like the future residences of Heaven that we will be one day. And so I hope this song encourages you to live your life like the resident of Heaven that you will become.” – Jason & Chris of 33Miles

The entire chapter 11 of Hebrews is filled with people of great faith that lived their life that way, so I hope that you can gain encouragement from this passage today!
