What do you think of when you think of the song “O Holy Night”? I imagine the carol being sung by a big, multi-cultural choir in red and white robes behind Celine Dion decked out in a sparkly evening gown. O Holy Night has the potential to be a power anthem–a bold declaration of the savior’s birth.
I think that’s why I love Sara Groves’ rendition of the hymn so much. She takes a song that is traditionally big and bold and brings it down to simple and sweet. She makes it intimate, and every word is like a lullaby to our savior! Thanks, Sara, for such a charming rendition of an old favorite!
We are excited to offer O Holy Night as the free download of the week! Thanks to all who voted for it two weeks ago in our Battle of the Bands contest. I have to say my favorite rendition of “O Holy Night” is by Point of Grace.
I love the version by Josh Groban!
I my favorite is BarlowGirl's version of "O Holy Night", but I love the song in almost any form because it's so lyrically rich!
David Phelps
My favorite is still Josh Groban's rendition
I love "O Holy Night" in any rendition. The best Christmas song ever sung by anyone!
David Phelps!!! What a voice!
My new favorite is Sara Groves.
Andy Williams, Nat King Cole, Jackie Evancho, Susan Boyle, David Phelps, Sara Groves...and so many more have performed this wonderful song so well. I especially enjoyed Josh Groban today.
Sara Groves does a great job.
I love the Neal Schon instrumental version of Oh Holy Night.
Nat King Cole's version of "O Holy Night".
My favorite rendition of O Holy Night is by the band Seven Day Jesus
I like MercyMe's version best, but "bonk" I'll be looking up the Neal Schon version next! That should be awesome!
I don't have a favorite version, but this is my favorite Christmas song! I just love it! Thanks for the free download, I was looking for this song!!! :D
I just love the song.... no matter who sings it! Beautiful!
My favorite "O Holy Night" was when a friend of mine sang it in church 1 night. She's not someone who you would think of buying music from though she is very good for an amateur, but that night she sounded better than professional. She sang confidently but soft, clear, and angelic bring forth the meaning of the song in reverence as she sang. Everyone working in other parts of the church came out to see just who it was that sounded so beautiful.
Martina McBride's may be my favorite.
My favorite version of O Holy Night is not by anyone famous. It's hearing it every Christmas growing up sung by the tenor in my church choir. Ted was a cement finisher with the voice of an angel and he sang with his heart. It was the highlight of the midnight service.
