I am working through this novelization of the bible with my girlfriends, and it has been so rich! I love the bible, and think that I have a good handle on the events, but the novelization of it brings things to light that I have just read over in the past. On many occasions I have read something and have thought, “Is that really in there?” Upon closer inspection, it is! It is not historical fiction, and it is not a paraphrase. Wangerin stays VERY close to the original, but creatively so, making this a perfect book for someone new to the bible, and especially the Old Testament.
