Hey guys,
We’re looking to feature some guest bloggers on our site, and want to hear from you! One of our main goals here at FreeCCM.com is to help you discover new music, and what’s a better way to do that then to give you great album reviews of the latest releases! That said, Disciple just launched an awesome pre-order on their site where you can download the entire new album before it hits stores in September, and we want to hear from those of you who have heard it! Email your review of the new “Horseshoes And Handgrenades” record to me at freeccmcontest@gmail.com and we’ll pick out the best ones to feature on our site for the World to see!
..and now a special message from Disciple
Thanks!
Laura

This is the post I put on my own blog: ---------------------- I'M SO EXCITED. I want to take this time out to express my excitement about the new Disciple album, Horseshoes and Handgrenades. And technically, it hasn't REALLY come out yet. The actual CD release in September 14th. But, if you click here you can pre-order the album and get the entire thing digitally - plus like a million other awesome things, like a t-shirt, stickers, band interviews, etc. Another awesome perk is that, if you order the album now, you can get even more songs that aren't included in the album! Instead of me talking about it more, here's Disciple talking about it. This album is definitely the best one so far. Amazing instrumentals, fantastic singing, powerful screaming, encouraging and worship-focused lyrics, all done by a group of musicians whose focus is on Christ, our Lord and Savior!! "Dear X, You Don't Own Me" talks about how the struggles in our lives tend to take over, but with the help of God, we don't have to be slaves to these feelings. Not only that, but Disciple puts some violins in the song to add to the already amazing sound. I was listening to "Battle Lines" at work, and I started jumping around (until I realized that my co-worker was watching me lol). It's a high-energy song that talks about the battle lines that "were drawn since the beginning" and that "we won't just lay our weapons down". "Eternity" is a worship song, and one of the best I've heard. It addresses God's love for all of humanity, and how when we die in Christ, we actually awaken to spend eternity with our Creator. That's only 3 of the songs, and the others are equally awesome. But I'm not going to give too much away lol If you like Disciple, you'll love this album. If you don't like Disciple... well... I'm sure there's a therapist somewhere! :P I can't wait to see them at Kingdom Bound in a week!
I LOVE this cd, my favorite CD since So Ho and Oh,SLeepers Son of the Morning greet messages in this album
I'm actually not as impressed with this album as I really wanted to be. After "Southern Hospitality" absolutely wowed me with it's relaxed, down-tempo blues-metal tendencies, "Horseshoes" sounds just a bit better than mediocre. The lyrics are good and mostly avoid sounding contrived or cliched, but musically I was hoping for a little more Disciple in the album and not as much Red or Skillet. Still... it's not bad. It's just not great (like "Back Again" or "Southern Hospitality").
