Hey friends, Intern Mikaela here.
I’m not from Nashville and I must say, ya’ll have some confusing weather around here. I mean, it will be a scorching 99 degrees outside and then start pouring rain within a 5 minute span. Weird.
Anyways, Nashville makes up for it by having some pretty awesome sunsets. Recently, every time I’ve seen a sunset, or the unfortunate times when I’ve been awake early enough to catch the sunrise, I’ve thought of The After’s new song, Light Up The Sky. The chorus says “light, light, light up the sky, You light up the sky to show me You are with me.” I think it’s a great reminder that just like God faithfully provides a sunrise and sunset everyday, He is faithfully with us always, through good times and bad.
As a major photography lover, I try to take as many pictures of sunsets as possible. After all, not one is the same, right? Here are a couple of my favorite sunsets:
The first picture I took on an airplane from Peru, the second picture is off of my deck at my house in Austin, Texas, and the third picture is on a beach in Peru. Never Going to Okay is my favorite song. I like that were never gonna enter complacency again. It's great reminder for Christians to stay off the middle ground even if it looks good.

Wow, really loved the streams. Been a fan of The Afters from back when they were a little local band called, Blisse. "Light Up the Sky" is pretty awesome, but I think "Runaway" is my pick of the three streams released so far. Looking forward to the new album!
My favorite track so far is definitely "Never Going Back to OK (Dance Remix)." I'm a huge fan of techno/trance/remixes and when this came out, I think I played it over and over and over about 50 times, literally. Huge fan of The Afters :) Keep up great tracks!
Gee whiz...it's so hard to pick just one! I would have to say that "Wait" and "Keeping Me Alive" are my faves, but if I had to choose one, I'd choose "Keeping Me Alive" because it instills such hope and the desire to persevere no matter how hard it gets in life. :)
i have recently fallen in love with Light up the Sky. I love the message of the song. Haven t heard much of them before this song, but if the rest of the album is anything like this song, Im positive i will LOVE it!!

My favorite song is "Wait." It's a beautiful melody, beautiful lyrics... equal parts hymn, song of devotion, and testimony. When I saw The Afters on tour, that song was the showstopper.

I am in the process of slaving over a novel and The Afters are a group that inspires my creativity. I especially adore Beautiful Love and Ocean Wide. They go so well with the christian based fantasy I am trying to move from my head onto the paper.
My favorite song, ok umm I have so many. I'd have to say that the new song "light up the sky" has become my favorite since it came out. Every time I listen to it it touches me in a new way. It's so powerful! I love the story behind it too. God is our light and this song really speaks to me.
My favorite song is indeed Light Up the Sky. Just before its release I was having some problems with my life and faith. I heard about the new EP, went and got it and the song just hit my heart. I've been waiting so long for a voice when all I had to do was lift eyes and look at His hand.
I like them all, but to pick one, I would say Ocean Wide, since that is the first song I heard them play in concert and turned me to their music. I am really liking Light Up the Sky now also.

Favorite song is "Summer Again." That whole album ended up a great inspiration for a novel I'm going to be writing sometime in 2011, but Summer Again was the song that helped me create not only the ending, but also the main thrust of a follow-up story. That, and it's just a beautiful song.

Thank God I'm Not The One. Very catchy tune and so totally true. This song reminds me that I'm not strong enough without Him to help me through everything. After that - would have to be "You" or "Someday". I could sing those songs over and over. That entire first album is a total singalong for me! They're all good!

My favourite song from The Afters would be "Ocean Wide". I love how the lyrics mean so much yet it is so simple. Swimming in the tears we cry, struggles about love and the eventual fruitfulness of it. Love it loads. This song changed my life, and i performed it for a friend's wedding.

My two favorites are "Oceans Wide" and "Light Up the Sky". If I had to choose one of thise I would probably have to say "Light Up the Sky" has to be it.
I would probably have to say that my favorite song is "Forty-Two" from the Never Going Back To OK Album. I love the tune, it's upbeat, and I love the lyrics. It took a while to decide, though. The Afters has become my favorite band, since I saw them live at 8 am in a movie theater with my church... It's like my music... music that fits my personality and my way of thinking. I never get tired of it and I'm beyond excited for the new album!
I absolutely ADORE thew new single "Light up the Sky." It gave me goosebumps as I was driving home the other evening. Im going through a rough time and the song coupled with the beautiful sunset behind me just reassured me that all will be right in due time. I also love "MyspaceGirl" and Beautiful Love (acoustic and studio). I hope hope hope they come to Michigan or somewhere close to soon I really want to see them perform.

Since one of my best friends told me about you, i have bought all that canadian Itunes alows you to, and downloaded everything else i could get from your band. On my birthday (july 15) I saw that you had new music and i pressed the link to view in itunes so i could buy it, and found out i couldn’t buy your music in canada. I have listened to all of you songs that i could though about 200 times. Whether I were able to get your new album free or not, I would like to ask you to try and make it available in Canada. so i've never been a die hard Afters fan, but after hearing "light up the sky" they DEF have a new fan :) its a simply amazing song, and if the rest of the album is HALF as good as this song, it will no doubt be a killer record.

Hmmm...I honestly don't know if I can just pick one song. I like them all. So I'm going to pick my top three. 1.) Myspace Girl 2.) Ocean Wide 3.) Never Going Back to Okay
Has to be Never Going Back to OK. It is the first song on my workout playlist, and it always gets me pumped for another workout (although my 3 year old would vote for MySpace Girl).
My 5 girls love to sing "MySpace Girl", it is a heart pumping, rolling the windows down, play it loud, jamming song in our van!
It would have to be a tie between Light Up The Sky, Falling Into Place, and Beautiful Love as my favorites. They all touch my heart in their own unique way, especially Falling Into Place. The lyrics in that one are so powerful, and they remind me daily that when life falls apart, leave it in God's hands and He'll fit the pieces back together.
Someday would have to be my favorite, I just remember listening to it at a little concert that the Afters did in a coffee shop years ago. And listening to the CD years latter and remembering the lyrics!
I love Keeping Me Alive. Even if I'm happy or sad I always relate to it and find new meanings behind it. I think it has the best universal theme behind it. I don't go a day without listening to it.

There are several great songs to choose from that you have recorded over the years but the one song that grips me by the heart EVERY time I hear it is "Thank God I'm Not The One" off the "I Wish We Could All Win" album. It is such a wonderful reminder of the pain and suffering He went through so that I could be seen as pure in front of our Father. And while I like to think that I would sacrifice myself to save others, He did it, and He did it fully knowing that many would never believe. What a beautiful sentiment, thank you for being open to His guidance and using the talent He gave you to share His love.

Also, we met you in the Woodlands, Texas a couple of years ago at a book store. We had never heard of you before when we met you that day. You were so kind to us and let us take our pics with you and your manager. That's when we bought our first Afters CD! Thanks.

I had the privilege of seeing the Afters grow from a band of young musicians playing at The Door in Dallas under the name "Blisse". A staple part of my senior year in high school was going to see Blisse at the Door anytime I could, where many of the songs from the past two albums had appearances. I think my favorite from all time is an oldie that I haven't heard recorded by the Afters specifically yet, entitled "Perfect and Beautiful." Still holding out for it, though... But, in terms of their recent stuff, you gotta go with the Brian Wilson flair of "One Moment Away." So good.

Hey Intern Mikaela, I have been a fan of The Afters for a long time, and found out about their music through some of the video uploads that Gavin Booth uploaded 3 years ago. My favourite tune is "Until the World". "Losing myself, to find in me, the way it ought to really be, It's hard to say I love you, It's hard to say I need you." This song reminds me that God really is compasionate, even when we can't see outside ourselves sometimes. God will be there, even though we fail, even though we continue to say "This is hard" or "I don't need you", God's faithfulness is neverending! This life isn't about us at all, we need to lose ourselves. I also agree with Derek, having the Afters albums available in Canada would be awesome. I have there first album "I Wish We All Could Win". I would love a copy! It is awesome to hear that that The After's is still making music to praise God! -Caitlin

I must say my favorite Afters song is probably...Tonight off of Never Going Back to OK. But I also really like Falling Into Place. The Afters are a pretty sweet band I got to meet them at Ichthus they were pretty cool we talked for a little while and then they signed my lyric sheet for Never Going Back to OK. Anyway I really like the Afters and hope they're around for a long time and I would love to get their new album.

I LOVE light up the sky! The song just speaks to my spirit not to mention that I believe God shows me so many of the wonders of HIS hand in the sky. I am a huge fan of sunsets, sunrises, clouds, rainbows, raindrops in fact I learned to fly planes as a pre-teen just so I could be amongst so much of the creation that is above us. So glad this song is on this album - - we serve a God who led the Israel's with wonders of the sky and He still leads us today!

I feel like Light up the sky is a tight, current sounding song with a good contrasting rhythm of drums and piano. However, I feel that the song that is more true to the personality of the band (as I perceive it lol!) is "We won't give up". It is a more interesting melody and has more unique qualities. It feels like a continuation of "Never going back to Okay" which was the song that really began my interest in the band.
